Cruelty Free Cosmetics – Do They Really Exist?

Cruelty free cosmetics is often described as a category comprised solely of cosmetic products that have been tested on animals without any kind of adverse effects. However, the FDA has yet to come up with an official definition that ties this word to any set of parameters.

A little known fact about cruelty-free makeup is that animal testing is used for the very purpose of creating new beauty products. This practice involves using rats, rabbits, and mice to test out new skin and hair products. Animals are also injected with certain chemicals that cause a variety of different side effects. Once these tests have been completed, the cosmetic products can be released to the public without any risk of negative consequences.

In addition to the above, it is also important to know that some cruelty free cosmetics are actually filled with harmful ingredients. For example, many paraffin based products contain mercury. It is important to note that this ingredient should not even be present in cosmetics in the first place.

Despite the fact that most products in the category fall under the category of cruelty-free cosmetics, you should still be aware that many products in this category still use animal testing. Some of these include lipstick, blush, and foundation.

There are many laws that exist to protect the general public from animal cruelty. These laws cover a range of issues, including animal testing and cosmetics that are designed to damage the environment.

As long as the products being produced are labeled as cruelty free, they will continue to be sold. However, if the manufacturer is caught manufacturing an animal cruelty product, they will be found in violation of many animal protection laws.

One thing to consider when buying cruelty free makeup is that there is no such thing as completely “all natural”. Many ingredients contained in cruelty free cosmetics have been extracted from petroleum or coal, which has been proven to be detrimental to the environment.

Another aspect to think about when shopping for cruelty-free cosmetics is that they do not really work nearly as well as the conventional cosmetic products do. Many times the product contains an ingredient or two that will clog the pores and cause more harm than good.

If a product contains alcohol or parabens, they will be absorbed into your skin and can potentially be damaging to your health. This is particularly true for people who suffer from acne. However, the most popular ingredients that are in the majority of cosmetics on the market are mineral oil, petrolatum, and lanolin.

All of these products contribute to clogging the pores and preventing the body’s natural oils from properly moving through it. This means that these products will only benefit the cosmetics that clog the pores and prevent oil movement instead of helping your skin in other ways. You would want to avoid these products altogether.

Cruelty free cosmetics can be beneficial to your overall health, but you have to be careful where you purchase your products. While there are some companies that sell products that will help your skin and not cause you harm, they are very rare.

Even if a company does not use animal testing, their products still pose a risk to your health. The vast majority of products on the market use artificial preservatives and chemicals.

A company should strive to use natural ingredients and plant-based ingredients in their products, not only because it is what they should be doing, but because it will be safer for you. No one wants to put their health at risk just so that they can give consumers a false hope.
